The big do (5–8 June): a strategic opportunity for councils & housing teams

Thu Mar 5, 2026 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM GMT Online, Teams

This year, we’re excited to bring The Big Lunch and The Big Help Out together for one big do on 5–8 June 2026 – a weekend of friendship, food, fun and action, where everyone’s invited to meet, eat and lend a hand locally.

To help councils, housing providers and community organisations make the most of it, join us for a one-hour lunchtime webinar on 5 March.

Hosted by Tracey Robbins, Head of Communities at the Eden Project, with guest speakers from the DCMS, Local Authorities and the Housing sector.

This session is for anyone looking for practical, realistic ways to spark participation and connection – even with limited time and resources. This includes teams working in:

  • Community and youth engagement
  • Volunteering
  • Leisure, culture and events
  • Tenant and resident involvement
  • Safer neighbourhoods

Join us to:

  • Find out how The Big Lunch and The Big Help Out are coming together to create one simple, inclusive moment for communities where everyone is invited to do something;
  • Learn how small, flexible actions (from cuppas to litter picks) can unlock wider engagement, social action and volunteering;
  • Hear real examples of how councils and housing teams are using the campaign to support stronger, more connected places that foster community cohesion.
  • Get free resources and ideas you can use straight away in your work and area.

Big or small, every do counts – and this webinar will help you support residents, tenants and volunteers to shape something that works for them.

Led by the Eden Project and made possible with support from the Pears Foundation, UK Government and Co-op, The Big Lunch and The Big Help Out weekend is supported by charities from across the UK including Guide Dogs, RSPCA, Barnardos, RNLI, Citizens Advice, Samaritans and many more.
