Session 2: Structuring “The Art of AI” – Building AI Literacy Through Creative Practice

Focus: Designing a scalable course model that develops critical thinking and AI literacy using Adobe ecosystems.

Session Overview

This session introduces the structure and pedagogical approach behind an “Art of AI” course developed within a creative academic environment. The course is designed to cultivate students who can direct, critique, and evaluate AI systems through design reasoning rather than passively use them.

Faculty will explore how Adobe Firefly and Creative Cloud Pro Plus can serve as the foundation for a course that emphasizes critical thinking, authorship, and ethical engagement with AI.

Participants will:

  • Examine a modular course structure, including weekly topics, assignments, and learning outcomes.

  • Explore how Firefly supports ideation, iteration, and conceptual development across disciplines.

  • Understand how Creative Cloud applications support refinement, authorship, and portfolio-ready outputs.

  • Identify ways to embed AI literacy into existing courses without requiring a full redesign.

  • Review examples of student workflows, including prompt evolution, iteration, and final execution.

Pedagogical Philosophy: The “Critical AI Literacy” Model

  • AI as a Thinking Partner: Students direct the process, using AI to test and refine ideas.

  • Prompting as Art Direction: Writing prompts become a form of conceptual communication.

  • Iteration as Learning: Rapid iteration through Firefly enables comparison, critique, and refinement.

  • Transparency as Authorship: Content Credentials and documentation reinforce ownership.

  • Skepticism as Skill: Students are trained to question outputs and evaluate quality critically.

Outcome:

Faculty gain a scalable course model and pedagogical framework for integrating AI literacy into their curriculum using Adobe tools.
