Social Thinking & Me Course ages 9-13
The Social Thinking & Me course builds knowledge about socially complex situations and strengthen social problem-solving strategies.
Social Thinking & Me teaches children to understand and approach social situations in a more thoughtful and flexible way. Instead of just memorizing rules for how to act, Social Thinking & Me helps children learn to pay attention to the people around them and think about how their behaviour fits the situation.
The main idea is that there’s no single “right” answer for every situation. Instead, children learn to use their senses, memories, and what’s happening around them to decide how to respond. This is different from teaching specific social skills, which focuses on learning exact actions.
In Social Thinking & Me, children practice thinking through social situations on their own, so they don’t need to rely on strict rules or set behaviours.
Based on the Social Thinking curriculum by Michelle Garcia Winner and Linda K Murphy.
