New Town Family Film Festival

The Edinburgh Cine And Video Club has been around since 1936 and has one of the oldest cinemas in Edinburgh in its club rooms in 23a Fettes Row in the New Town.

Come to our fundraising festival on Sunday 27^th August 2023 from 12 noon until 4.

Tea, coffee and homebaking in the ECVS Club 23a Fettes Row from 12 noon – pop in and say hello. Radioactive milk and contaminated dinosaur blood for the children! Free but please consider a donation to our refurbishment fund.

Childrens Fun day (Free entry!) in East Circus Gardens 12 until 4 – opposite Great King St on St Vicent St. Come dressed as a character from a film for the childrens parade (£1 per entrant). Facepainting, bouncy castle, pizza, burgers, sweeties, juice.

Night Of The Living Dead 12:30 – 2pm in the Cinema in the club 23a Fettes Row (15) Tickets £5. Come dressed as a zombie get a free radioative cocktail.

The Old Time Mini Cine – 1pm – 2:15 Classic black and white silent films played on an old-skool projector with live musical accompanyment from our in-house orchestra. Basement 34a Howe Street. Free - but please make a donation to our refurbishment fund.

Green Screens For TikTokers Workshop 2:30 til 3:30 in the Green Screen room at the club on 23a Fettes Row – come and learn how to use green screens and float in backgrounds to your clips – grab some shots in our green screen studio to practice. Tickets £7 – places limited book now! 

Childrens Parade in East Circus gardens 2:30pm – the best costumes get added to the Boulevard Of The Stars! £1 entry.

Gullivers Travels 3pm – the 1939 animated classic at 3pm in the Cinema in the club 23a Fettes Row (a family film) Tickets £5/£3 (children)

After nearly 90 years and 600 films made we are coming back with a vengeance. With tiktok and camera phones film making has never been more popular and there has never been a greater need for a club for amateur filmmaking.

We are seeking new members who are (or want to be) script writers, directors, producers cinematographers, costume designers, FXers, props manager, location scouts, TikTockers, Vloggers, YouTubers, animators, green screeners, soundtrack composers, production accountants and caterers, poster and artwork designers, GoProers, lighting and sound engineers and, not least actors and extras. You can be a professional, you can be a teenage girl with a camera phone, you can do sports with a GoPro, all welcome. Come and support us, meet our members and help us raise money to refurbish our cinema.
