When it comes to your child's education rights, there's what the school district says and what the law actually says. This workshop is designed to help parents and caregivers understand their children's education rights under Section 504 and the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and effectively advocate to ensure those rights are received.
Our featured speakers, attorney Torin Togut and psychologist Brandi Tanner, will cover Section 504 and IDEA laws, Georgia's special education rules, the 504 and special education eligibility process, and your child's procedural safeguards under Section 504 and the IDEA. There will be time for Q&A as well as time for organizing and planning your education advocacy strategy.
If you want to learn how to advocate for your child with a 504 or IEP, how to get your child from a 504 to an IEP, or how to effectively keep up with all the education-related documentation, data, meetings, and other follow-ups that children with disabilities require, this workshop is for you.
Certificates of attendance will be provided to those who may be able to use this event for training hours.
