Rethinking Education in the Age of AI

Thu 22 Oct 2026 18:30 - Mon 26 Oct 2026 11:30 Chateau Hostacov, 582 82

Chateau Hostačov and Integral Altruism* invite you to Education in the Age of AI, an unconference**. Hosted in the beautiful Czech countryside 70 minutes from Prague, we will gather from Thursday evening, 22 October, to Monday morning, 26 October 2026.

We're personally inviting attendees from across the education and AI worlds — people working in traditional higher education, cutting-edge technologists, and university students living through this transition first-hand. By facilitating collective problem-solving and lively debate, we hope to spark unexpected partnerships and send each participant home ready to start making change in their own sphere of influence.

The schedule is roughly as follows:

  1. Thursday evening: Arrive, dinner, relax, and connect.
  2. Friday — The "Why": What has the goal of education been until now, and how should it change? We'll run a central workshop and a number of talks, followed by slots for participants to lead smaller discussions. This day grounds us in shared goals.
  3. Saturday — The "What": Taking Friday's objectives, what could (and should) education look like in 10, 50, or 100 years? Which models serve the most of those objectives at once? Again, a central workshop plus several unconference slots. This day is for imagining a grand future before we come back down to earth.
  4. Sunday — The "How": Now that we have a vision, how do we bring it to life? What do we, our communities, our institutions, and our governments need to do today? We'll run a small hackathon, get into the weeds on whether and how AI can support these goals, and plan next steps to take home with us.
  5. Monday: Breakfast and goodbyes.

Good to know: We ask participants to arrive with an open mind and no fixed assumptions. This is not a traditional conference; you won't sit passively through talk after talk. We'll ask you to engage actively with your fellow attendees all weekend, whatever their background or experience. We all have something to contribute and something to learn, and we ask everyone who joins to buy into that. So come ready to get your hands dirty and willing to change your mind.

Tickets: Tickets cover access to the workshops, sleeping arrangements, and three meals a day – including dinner on Thursday and breakfast on Monday. Chateau Hostačov subsidizes educational events like this through hosting other private events, making these price points possible. We hope this enables a wide range of attendees to join. Please find a price/arrangement which works for you and contact us if you have any questions or needs.

* Integral Altruism is a spin-off from Effective Altruism. Both share the same end goal — doing the most good — but Integral Altruism focuses on bringing in change-making approaches that go beyond classical rationalism and utilitarianism.

** An unconference is a conference where participants actively shape the direction, conversations, and outcomes. We'll have facilitators and some pre-planned workshops, but we also invite participants to bring discussions they want to lead, questions they want to pose, or anything else they'd like to put to the group. More information will be provided to attendees closer to the event.
