Gorey Letters: A Traditional Handlettering Workshop

In observation (and dubious celebration) of the 2026 EGH exhibit O Sordid Type: Edward Gorey’s Art of Lettering, the House and Thacher Hall invite you to join us for Gorey Letters: an evening of writing the alphabet in various ways. Learn the history of the typefaces Gorey drew his inspiration from and design letterforms of your very own.

Tickets include refreshments and light snacks, as well as a pen, ink, and specialty paper. House Members receive a discount – simply enter the code issued with your Membership card at checkout. While this event is recommended for grown-ups, the more artistically inclined young adult in your life may get something out of it as well. We discourage the attendance of creatives young enough to be tempted into the consumption of ink, a pen, or some other delectable-yet-indigestible material.
