Join us in celebrating the launch of Beyond Palatable: A manifesto for unapologetic women by local resident Sophie Jane Lee, released on 8th March — a book born from the places where we’ve been silenced, self-edited, and taught to stay within the lines. 

A one-night gathering for those who are done shrinking, softening, moulding and diluting themselves to be more palatable. 

As part of the UK-wide Reclamation Tour, this evening invites you to explore voice, self-expression, taking up space, and what it really means to be unapologetically you.

What to expect

An immersive, soulful, electric evening that blends performance, participation and reclamation of your full, unapologetic self. 

You’ll experience:

• Burlesque performances that honour the body as art, story, and power

• A singing circle to open the voice and loosen what’s been held back

• Guided visualisation to reconnect you to the parts of you that have been edited out and pushed down

• Creative expression that explores self-expression and your voice

• The chance to create your own unapologetic slogan 

• A group photoshoot with Roots and Tales, capturing you as you are, not as you’ve been told to be

Miz Fyre Cracker
Serving heart, soul, and magnetic energy, Miz Fyre Cracker blends classic tease with modern fire. Her performances are rich with playful confidence, dramatic flair, and her signature SWISH. Known for expressive storytelling and a contagious smile, she invites audiences to savour every delicious moment of the fun. Throw another log on — the Fyre’s still burning.

Since beginning her burlesque career in 2019, Miz Fyre Cracker has captivated audiences nationwide. Her most-booked and much-loved act, Red Roses, has become a standout favourite. In 2022, she expanded into production with acclaimed shows including Pears & Peaches Cabaret and Metal & Mayhem Burlesque, alongside empowering workshops that sharpen stage presence, amplify expression, and cultivate fearless confidence.

Sir Loin
A neo-burlesque performer with a love for old Hollywood glamour and a sharp, modern edge — the prime cut of sass. Originally from South Africa, Sir Loin began his burlesque journey in 2019, using the stage to blend masculinity and femininity into one bold, gender-bending presence.

Rooted in classic burlesque but never afraid to play, Sir Loin brings tease, humour, and character to every performance. At his core, he dances for the love of dance itself. Growing up in a world where boys weren’t allowed to dance, the stage became a space of freedom — a place to reclaim joy and be unapologetically himself.

A singing circle with Blousy Haorang
Opening voices gently, bravely, and collectively. We'll co-create a song and join Blousy in exploring the full range of your vocal expression. NOTE: If you're like most people we meet, the idea of this will terrify the bajeesus out of you. We promise you'll leave so glad you pushed yourself to come and experiment anyway. Blousy's singing circles are a true gift. 

Guided visualisations with Katie Huntsman
Grounding the evening in the body, not just the mind with the most exceptional space holder we know. Katie will help you feel safe and welcome and embrace any of the eeek moments that will inevitably come up as you explore some of these sticky topcis. 

Talk and readings from Sophie Jane Lee
Author of Beyond Palatable, journalist, and voice and visibility consultant — sharing the story behind the book and the deeper invitation it holds. Sophie Jane Lee is passionate about the need for us to use our voices and take up space in a world determined to keep us small and complaint. There is no greater revolution than when women decide they will no longer bend and mould themselves to make everyone else comfortable.
