Electro Jazz Orchestra Christmas Concert @ St Botolph's, Colchester

Electro Jazz Orchestra – A Big Band for the 21st Century

Forget everything you think you know about big bands. The Electro Jazz Orchestra brings the power, excitement and sheer energy of a traditional big band into the 21st century, with a fresh approach to some of the world's best-known music.

Based in Colchester, Essex, this dynamic 20-piece orchestra combines outstanding musicianship with inventive arrangements and a subtle use of modern technology to create a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly different.

Drawing on influences from jazz, funk, soul, pop, film and television, the Electro Jazz Orchestra takes audiences on a musical journey that crosses generations and genres. From the unmistakable sound of classic big band jazz to powerful contemporary arrangements and unexpected interpretations of familiar themes, the orchestra delivers a programme full of variety, surprises and musical excitement.

At the heart of the orchestra is a group of talented and experienced musicians who share a passion for live performance. Together, they combine the rich sound of a full brass and saxophone section with a driving rhythm section, creating everything from intimate, atmospheric moments to the exhilarating sound of 20 musicians playing at full power.

But this is no ordinary big band. While the Electro Jazz Orchestra respects the traditions of the great jazz orchestras, it isn't afraid to break a few rules. Modern arrangements, imaginative programming and the occasional touch of technology all help create a distinctive musical experience that appeals to jazz enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

Whether you're a lifelong big band fan or simply enjoy great live music, the Electro Jazz Orchestra offers something different: a concert packed with energy, musicianship, humour and plenty of surprises.

Big band music, reimagined. And definitely not stuck in the 1940s!
