Description
Our next reading group is on Wednesday, 26th March at 7 pm (GMT). Join the Bowen Society as we go through the magnificent stories of Ann Lee’s. Published in 1926, it was Bowen’s second short story collection, an early moment in her career in which a young writer was finding her literary voice. “Bowen hadn’t read many short stories when she began to write her own,” writes Tessa Hadly; yet, “[these] stories don’t break the genre frame; rather, they swell it from the inside and make it strange. That’s her modernism.”
The stories in this collection are:
- Ann Lee's
- The Parrot
- The Visitor
- The Contessina
- Human Habitation
- The Secession
- Making Arrangements
- The Storm
- Charity
- The Back Drawing-Room
