CHS Postdoc Funding Panel
Thu 13 Mar 2025 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM GMT
Online, Zoom
Description
The CHS ECR Committee is delighted to announce the second event for 2025. Due to popular demand, we are running a panel on postdoc funding schemes that may be of interest to postgrads and ECRs. The following panelists will speak for 10 minutes on their project and funder, and there will be time at the end for questions specific to each project/funding scheme and chat about postdoc opportunities more broadly.
- Dr Laura Nys is a postdoctoral scholar at the history department of Ghent University, Belgium. In 2023, she was a research fellow of the Independent Social Research Foundation (ISRF). Her research interests include the history of juvenile delinquency and emotions. She will talk about the First Book Grant, awarded by the Independent Social Research Foundation.
- Dr. Hannah Waite is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Leeds, where her research "A Zero-sum game?" explores a ‘both/and’ approach to biological disorder and religious experience in Christians with psychosis and/or mania. She has held previous research and teaching roles at the London School of Theology, ECLAS, and Theos Think Tank, and holds an MA in Psychology and a PhD in Practical Theology from the University of Aberdeen.
- Dr. Elisabeth M. Yang is a senior postdoctoral researcher, Wellcome Early Career Award recipient in the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science at the University of Leeds, and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Currently, she is the guest co-editor of Osiris's special issue on the Entangled Histories of Science and the Child. She is currently working on her book project, Constructing Moral Babies: The Medical and Scientific Enterprise of Infancy in America, 1850s-1920s.
We will also be recording part of the event and access to the recording will be available for members of the Children's History Society- (£10 students/ £15 for Early Career Scholars) membership information here: https://www.histchild.org/pages/membership
We look forward to seeing you there!

P.S. Please note that this event doesn't touch on fellowships or small(er) research grants. We aim to hold a similar event on such awards later in the year.
