Elk Creeks Preservation Society

Established in 1977, we are a nonprofit whose purpose is to restore and maintain historic structures and properties within the Elk Creeks watershed, while sharing the knowledge of local history. 

Our most recent project has been to repair and rebuild the massive stone walls of an 18th century commercial cooper shop. It is believed to be the only such structure remaining in Maryland. The current focus of our fundraising is adding a much-needed roof to this unique building. Our goal is complete restoration; giving Cecil County a showpiece of past and present craftsmanship to be used for educational and community events. We are 100% volunteer run, so every penny you donate goes toward preserving the past for the future. Thank you for your support!
