The Elm City String Quartet begins the new year with a program that has something for everyone. We begin the concert with the beautiful elegance of Mozart’s 21st quartet. We then explore the work of a lesser-known Holst: Imogen. Her Phantasy Quartet is short but offers expansive and sonorous textures. We complete the concert with Samuel Barber’s only string quartet, which is famous for it’s second movement adagio, which has served as funeral music for figures like Franklin Roosevelt and Albert Einstein.
