THREE NIGHTS - ONE AMAZING SHOW - ABOUT HOW ONE SMALL SHIFT CAN CHANGE ANYONE'S TRAJECTORY!
The Great Brain Robbery is darkly funny, using elements of silent film to show Jen’s journey through cancer, losing her wife to leukemia, and a lifetime of being made to feel like she wasn’t smart enough. With the help of her two opposing alter egos, she explores what happens when you spend too many years feeling silenced, and finally fight to reclaim your voice.
“The GREAT BRAIN ROBBERY was revelatory; I feel grateful to have witnessed how her internal operator works.”
“It made me a different person when I left. We’ve all experienced loss but not at that capacity. She is poignant, brave, with an unmeasured amount of bad-ass-ery, to tell this story.”
“I knew her late wife well, it was amazing to get to see Mariah again through her performance.”
"It’s a lot, this life we are given. Jennifer has been through more than most. But she has one of those faces. The kind that feels as open as the sky when you look at her. The kind that has been truly loved and should be. And with this shining face she creates a show that is a gorgeous melancholy mixture of character work, utterly brilliant physical morphing, and a deeply moving, sweetly wrought, completely honest and unaffected truth. Jennifer is a brilliant physical actor. She allows each character to inhabit her. whether real or imaginary. There are beats throughout the play where she performs her version of the “Mr Cellophane” song from Chicago. And wow. I didn’t think it was possible to smile and weep at the same time. But Jennifer helped me do it."
