Spring Term: Mission Possible: Meaning and Purpose of the Church

What does living out your faith look like in everyday life?  You don’t need any qualifications—just a desire to love God with all your mind!

Over eight Monday evenings, this online interactive module explores what it means to live out Christian faith in everyday life, focusing on discipleship, mission, and the practical outworking of faith. You will engage with Scripture, theology, and real-life application to deepen your understanding and confidence in living a mission-orientated life.

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

1. Understand the biblical foundations for the Church’s mission.
2. Explore the relationship between evangelism, social justice, and discipleship.
3. Recognise different models of mission across church history.
4. Identify the challenges and opportunities for mission in an increasingly secular world.
5. Develop a personal and local church strategy for engaging in mission today.

ABOUT POP-UP THEOLOGY

Pop-Up Theology is born from a deep conviction that engaging with theology is a priority for all Christians, not the few. We study theology to know and love God more and to share our faith with confidence. At Emmanuel Theological College we believe theology should be accessible to everyone, without geographical, academic, social, or economic barriers. The college exists to equip the whole people of God for the whole mission of God. Pop-up Theology is designed so that everyone can gain confidence in their ability to engage with theological study, even those who may have not previously thought it possible. Offered as a modular Monday evening programme on zoom, with both class and small-group discussions in the interactive teaching led by Emmanuel Theological College staff, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow in your knowledge of and love for the Lord and be better equipped to serve his purpose in your locality.

Sixteen hours of contact time over eight Monday Evenings, starting Monday 18th January 2027, and concluding on Monday 15th March 2027 (excluding college half term, Mondays 15th February 2027).
