The half day training is aimed at upskilling the stakeholders in the EXEED (Excellence in Energy Efficient Design) process with particular emphasis on the responsibilities and deliverables of the Energy Efficiency Design (EED) Expert.

The course will impart a broad array of practical approaches throughout the training to help ensure the most appropriate approach is adopted in the various dynamics of design projects with “minimal energy consumption” and minimum operational CO2 at the core of each module.

Training format

This course will be delivered via Microsoft Teams. This is a virtual classroom in which participants will require access to a webcam and microphone for live sessions with the trainers throughout the training. Participants will receive a Microsoft Teams link via email. Class sizes are limited to allow opportunity for all delegates to participate. Class sizes will be a maximum of 15 people on a first come first served basis.

Learning objectives:

Upskill the trainees on the role, responsibilities and deliverables of the Energy Efficient Design expert

Gain a deeper understanding of Energy Efficient Design principles with worked examples of best practice

Demonstrate the benefits of adopting an energy efficient design approach to a new investment project and highlight solutions to the perceived barriers

Develop a deeper knowledge of the specific requirements of the EXEED Designed certification including the processes and controls necessary for effective implementation

Trainers:

Richard Morrison of Optien Ltd. has a strong background in engineering has worked as an improvement consultant for over 18 years where he works with design teams on projects to challenge the designs from an energy efficient design perspective. The breadth of Richard’s experience is spread across both the private and public sectors both nationally and internationally. Richard is also the Project Manager of the working group tasked with updating the Irish Energy Efficient Design Standard IS:399 upon which the EXEED process is based.

Michael Doyle of Energy Conservation Options has several years’ experience in Energy Management and has built up knowledge internationally of the design, build and operation of plant including a wide range of utilities and production equipment. He now provides independent consultancy and training to industrial, commercial and public sectors to achieve savings through practical management of energy use and resources.

Who should attend?

This training is particularly focused at individuals & companies who are looking to fulfil the role of an Energy Efficient Design Expert on an EXEED project.

However, the training would also be very beneficial for the following stakeholders in an EXEED project:

• Project team members

• Energy Efficient Design Owners / Energy managers

• Design team members

• Contractors (Mechanical & Electrical, Fit-out etc)

• Project management companies

• Architects

• Senior management

A certificate of attendance will be circulated after the training, on request, and based on the participant engagement during the full 4 hours of training.
