Christmas embroidery night

Thu 26 Nov, 6–8pm. Upstairs at Enki (30 High Street, Kings Heath) £35.

Come along and learn the basics of embroidery. You can make your own felt Christmas decoration, or bring an item of clothing or a bag to customise.

If you fancy personalising something, bring it with you and we'll help you add names, initials or little motifs using embroidery and appliqué. Whether it's a Christmas jumper for yourself or a personalised onesie for your new niece or nephew, you'll learn some new skills and leave with something lovely that you've made yourself. Rather make a Christmas decoration? We'll provide all the materials you need, so just come along and get stitching! When you book, choose the ticket for what you'd like to make.

This festive 2-hour session includes hands-on tuition and all the tools and materials you'll need to make or customise your piece, plus mulled apple juice and our customer favourite Christmas treat, Lebkuchen! If you fancy an alcoholic drink, feel free to bring a bottle. We have glasses, bottle openers etc.

This class is suited to total beginners. It's always fun to see self-declared "non-crafty" people leave with something they've made and a new crafty identity! And if you've got some experience already, Hannah's happy to set you a bit more of a challenge.

It makes a lovely treat for yourself, or a gift for someone who'd enjoy an evening of making.

Your tutor: Hannah has taught secondary and A Level Art and Textiles for 11 years. She's an experienced crafter who can turn her hand to anything, and loves sharing her skills with others.

Good to know:

• The class starts at 6pm on the dot, so it's worth arriving five minutes early to get settled in, and we can make you a cuppa. It runs until 8pm.
• Under-16s are welcome with an adult.
• The workshop is upstairs. If you have any trouble with stairs, please arrive a little earlier and let us know, and we'll be happy to help.
• If not enough people book, we'll move you to another date or give you a full refund. Can't make it? You're welcome to send a friend in your place.
