Dhrupad Concert

You are invited to an intimate house concert with master vocalist Chintan Upadhyay. A disciple of preeminent Dhrupad maestro, Pandit Uday Bhawalker, Chintan Ji is a leading exponent and inspirational proponent of the musical, spiritual, and philosophical traditions of Dhrupad. He will be accompanied by Gurtej Singh, disciple of Ustad Rajesh Kumar Malviya of Punjab Gharana, on Jodi/Pakhawaj.

This is a rare opportunity to discover the magic of Dhrupad, an ancient style of Indian classical music known for its meditative and spiritual qualities. Based on the philosophy of Nada Brahma (which means sound is God), this mystical art aims to connect the performer and the listener with the divine.

Chintan Ji will begin with a short lecture/demonstration on the philosophy, origin, and basics of Dhrupad, followed by an intimate performance of this divine art.
