CRISI Workforce Development Training: Vehicles & Vehicle Dynamics Fundamentals

Workforce Development Training for Shortline and Passenger Railway Professionals at TTC

The Transportation Technology Center (TTC), operated by ENSCO, invites shortline and passenger railway professionals to participate in a specialized workforce development training program funded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s CRISI Grant.

This free, three-day course provides an introduction to rail vehicle systems, suspensions, and dynamics. Participants will conduct a railcar inspection and learn numerical modeling techniques for simulating railcar and track interactions using multi-body dynamics software. Afternoon field sessions illustrate how suspension components and track geometry influence safety and ride performance.

Shortline and passenger railway professionals interested in vehicle inspection, design fundamentals, and safety performance.

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM each day

Cost

Free to attend. Training is fully funded through the CRISI Grant.
Lunch is not included. Students may purchase meals at the on-site TTC cafeteria or cover their own expenses.

2027 Refundable Registration Deposit
To help ensure that these limited-capacity training opportunities remain available to participants who are able to attend, a refundable registration deposit will be required for classes beginning in 2027.
The training itself remains free through CRISI funding. The deposit is simply used to reserve your seat and will be fully refunded upon attendance at the course.
We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise. If you are unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible so your seat may be offered to another participant. Additional cancellation and refund information will be provided during registration.

Capacity

Limited to 15 students per class.

PPE Requirement

Afternoon field sessions require steel-toed boots. TTC will provide the remaining PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest).
