The Advanced Railroad Derailment Investigation & Prevention Course is designed for railroad professionals involved in safety, engineering, operations, inspection, derailment prevention, and incident investigation.

Held at the Transportation Technology Center (TTC) in Pueblo, Colorado, the course combines advanced classroom instruction with practical field exercises at TTC's dedicated derailment training areas. Participants learn from experienced derailment investigators, railroad engineers, and ENSCO subject-matter experts while examining the technical, operational, track, rolling-stock, and vehicle-dynamics factors that contribute to derailments.

The course is one of the inaugural offerings under TTC Professional Training, a new initiative focused on advanced, hands-on technical education for transportation professionals.

Enhanced for 2027

Building on participant feedback and the success of previous sold-out offerings, the course has been expanded and enhanced for 2027:

• Expanded from 3 to 3.5 days
• More hands-on field time and practical exercises
• Expanded technology-focused instruction
• Expanded instruction from additional subject-matter experts

The expanded format provides greater integration between classroom concepts and real-world application, giving participants more opportunities to put what they learn into practice at TTC.

Enrollment

To preserve the interactive, hands-on nature of the course, enrollment is intentionally limited.

This is currently the only open-enrollment session planned for 2027, and previous derailment training offerings at TTC have reached capacity. Early registration is strongly encouraged. Registration will close once the course reaches its attendance limit.
