Stepping up: in conversation with David Obura
This spring we’ll be continuing our series of conversations with environmental leaders that sit outside of philanthropy to explore what “stepping-up” to this political, ecological and societal moment looks like.
In this session we'll be speaking to David Obura, Chair of IPBES (Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services), founder of CORDIO East Africa and member of the Earth Commission.
David’s primary research has been on coral reef resilience, biogeography and climate change impacts. His interests are turning now towards sustainability science pivoting around coastal, African and societal needs and priorities, in the broader sustainable development paradigm. David works from the local scale, through fostering innovative action to promote sustainability, through regional scale alignment and integration, to global scales.
Those that join can expect a lively conversation on how the international system can drive positive change for biodiversity and the role of philanthropy within this process.
