New Dates Announced ~Level 3 Two Day Trauma Enhanced Course
This 2 day online course adopts a biopsychosocial perspective and takes a deep dive around enhanced level trauma training. The course was designed by our chief clinical advisor and trauma expert Dr. Dawn Harris and Alex O'Donnell. It is specifically tailored for practitioners in the justice system working with people with a history of developmental trauma.
This training will be delivered by Alex O'Donnell and psychologist Pauline Hurr. Please click links to read their full bio.
This training fully aligns with the Scottish Government national vision: to create a trauma informed and responsive workforce in Scotland.
The 2 day course cost is £200. Book via link or email enquiries for invoice option if booking 5 places or more.
Learning Approach
In our training sessions, we facilitate a safe space to deliver interactive inputs and work in groups to share reflections and build knowledge, skills and practice. The training approach is strengths based and delivered to accommodate all learning styles. It draws from the latest research in the field of trauma and a key aim is to increase practitioner confidence and become informed and responsive to the people they serve in the justice system.
The training will utilise an array of teaching styles including small group discussions, experiential reflection, multimedia methods, and learning inputs in the main virtual training room. The training is highly participative and a case study and live examples from both the trainers and participants will be interwoven throughout.
Attendees will also receive an electronic Epione learning pack for post course refection, and to provide the opportunity to revisit key models and watch associated video content.
Learning Outcomes
Click to see learning outcomes HERE. The learning content affiliates with the NHS Education Scotland trauma training framework (level 3) and is validated by the British Psychological Society. Independent evaluation by Community Justice Scotland, Griesbach Research Consultancy and more recently by The Lines Between for online training delivery evidence increased knowledge, skills and confidence in practice for those completing the course.
Who is the course for?
The course is aimed at people who work in the Justice system and in regular contact with people with a history of trauma (Youth Justice Services, Justice Social Work, Prison Based Social Work, Addiction Services, Mental Health Services etc). It is our shared understanding and combined efforts to create a trauma informed and responsive practice that will promote recovery and wellbeing that will support desistance and improve life chances for the people within our services.
