Equity GLN: Cuba x Palestine Fundraiser

Join Equity's Global Liberation Network for our Culture is the Nation fundraiser! We will have live Cuban music, Palestinian food, salsa dancing, and prizes to be won in bingo! Bring your friends, and bring your solidarity!

All funds raised go towards Alrowwad Cultural & Arts Society in Palestine and the Cuban National Union of Cultural Workers.

Palestine remains in the midst of genocide, ethnic-cleansing, occupation and apartheid. Culture is at the beating heart of resistance. 

Alrowwad Cultural & Arts Society is a not-for-profit organisation based in the Aida Refugee Camp that works specifically with children, youth and women. Alrowwad run art, media, vocational, educational programs aimed at uplifting and inspiring local communities through creative practices including theatre, Dabke, music and drawing. The centre relies almost exclusively on donations and provides a haven for people who face daily oppression under occupation and state violence.

The callous aggression of the US fuel blockade imposed on Cuba poses an existential threat to Cuban cultural workers, where power cuts of up to 30 hours at a time have been forcing cultural institutions and nightlife to postpone performances, decimating the income of thousands of our fellow cultural workers. Despite this, Cuban artists have carried on performing shows during daylight-hours in schools, town squares and communities. 

We will split all monies raised between the Cuban National Union of Cultural Workers and Alrowwad Cultural & Arts Society.
