Community Technology in Detroit with Mother Cyborg: Hybrid Public Lecture in association with CenSoF

We are delighted to welcome Diana Nucera (aka MOTHER CYBORG) to a three-week residency hosted by the Centre for Sociodigital Futures in partnership with Knowle West Media Centre, the Centre for Creative Technologies, and the Pervasive Media Studio

Diana Nucera, also known as Mother Cyborg, is a multimedia artist whose practice merges music, fibre arts, and the power of emotional connection with personal experience and systemic analysis. Her work is deeply informed by sixteen years of community organizing in Detroit, where she authored guides and developed organizing models to challenge digital redlining.

Today, her quilting practice interlaces education, technology, and craft to document mutual aid and explore the curiosity that arises between people, technology, and the natural world. In this hybrid lecture, she will share the breadth of her work, accompanied by an in-person viewing of her quilts.
