Join us in March for a night of Italian music, and a celebration of the links between Scotland and Italy with the Italian Institute.

Edinburgh University Chamber Orchestra plays Trittico Botticelliano (Three Botticelli Pictures) by Ottorino Respighi - an exploration of three different Botticelli paintings in the Uffizi gallery in Florence (including this one below, The Birth of Venus), and Pietro Mascagni's beautiful Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana.

Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Edimburgo

Roma Tre Orchestra:

Founded in 2005, Roma Tre Orchestra is the first university orchestra established in Rome and the Lazio region. It is oriented towards dedication and excellence, and aimed at spreading the popularity of great music most of all among the younger generations. The Association organizes concerts of chamber and symphonic music at Ateneo, the Palladium Theater, and at other culturally important places in the city such as the Accademia di Danimarca, the Museums of the City of Rome, and many others.

  • Aria – Lucia: “Il dolce suono… Spargi d’amaro pianto” – 7’
  • Final Scene – Edgardo: “Tombe degli avi miei… Tu che a Dio spiegasti l’ali” – 15’(with adapted transcription of the chorus and central sections)
