European Movement Staffordshire Erasmus+ Talk - ONLINE
Sat 18 Jan 2025 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM GMT
Online, Zoom
Description
Join us either on-line for a interesting talk on the Erasmus+ programme, how its loss has affected the UK and Staffordshire in particular and what we have to gain by rejoining. Many non-EU countries take part in the Erasmus+ programme, so even for die-hard Brexit fans there was no ideological reason for leaving it completely.
This order is for on-line attendance.
If you prefer to attend in person at Erasmus Darwin House, Lichfield, please select the In-person event button from the email invitation or use this link.
Erasmus+ provides funding for education, training and sport. It has a particular focus on youth work, but it also provides funding for activities aimed at all ages. It is not just a university exchange programme and we intend to show how valuable it was for communities such as those across Staffordshire, what was lost when the UK pulled out and what we have to gain by rejoining it.
If you want more opportunities for learning, development and sport in your community join us for this talk to find out how Erasmus+ could have helped and join the campaign to get it back.
We have a great line up of speakers for you:
Cecilia Jastrzembska is President of YEM, a Control Commission member for the Young European Socialists, a UK delegate for EuropeTalks and a member of the European Movement National Board. Cecilia's background is in the civil service as a Senior Policy Advisor and has a decade of experience organising, chairing and speaking at political events on feminism, AI and international affairs through her home think tank The Fabian Society. Cecilia has been published in over 15 newspapers, from national to academic as a political journalist and is an Ambassador for 50:50 Parliament.
Kanika Safiya has taken part in many Erasmus+ projects. She is currently a final year Social Science student at University of Birmingham. Her interests are many but the ones she holds closest to her are community and urban development. After many years of searching for the ideal role, she is finally ready to settle into help people, one activity at a time.
Matt Pointon is a TUC/WMCA Skills Partnership Lead at the TUC and lecturer at the Workers Education Association (WEA).
Klajdi Selimi is a former president of the Young European Movement and a keen advocate for the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ programme.
