Discover how to create beautiful etchings in this hands-on workshop with Sheffield-based printmaker Eva Juusola.

By following along with Eva's step-by-step demonstrations, you’ll learn how to etch and print aluminium plates with materials that are safe to use at home. No need for dangerous acids, noxious solvents or expensive etching presses!

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and more experienced printmakers curious about new approaches.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Learn what etching is and how it differs from other printmaking techniques
  • Follow along with the tutor to etch a simple design, step by step. You'll learn how to etch linework as well as tonal areas and textures. Use your own reference image or one supplied by the tutor
  • Learn how to ink up, wipe and print your plate
  • Find out how you can correct mistakes and further develop your design

By the end of the day, you’ll leave with your own prints and all the knowledge you'll need to set up your own etching studio at home, if you want to take it further!

Small group (max. 8 participants) with lots of one-to-one attention. All materials and equipment provided. Tea, coffee and biscuits included! Please bring a packed lunch.

Refund policy: Cancellations made 14 days or more before the workshop will receive a full refund. Those made 7–13 days in advance will receive a 50% refund. Unfortunately, no refunds can be offered for cancellations made within 7 days of the workshop.
