Description
A showcase presentation of John N. Frank's semi-autobiographical play It's My Brooklyn Too! performed in Brooklyn, where it all began. The story of an Italian-American immigrant family in 1960 wrestling to achieve their American dreams. What price will they pay and what will it do to the family? A worried matriarch worries that coming to this new country set her on a path she did not want to follow where her children argue they must leave the old ways behind to be truly accepted as Americans.
Playwright John N. Frank will be talking with the audience about the play after each Sunday performance as well. Several cast members may also join in. The play will be performed in a brownstone in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens section of Brooklyn. Ticket buyers will be sent the address.
The play opens on New Year's Eve 1960 at the Smaldone house in Park Slope. This video, from events held at the real-life Smaldone house, sets the mood for act one:
