Everton FC Heritage Society social / talks evenings

We are pleased to announce the second event for the 2026/27 season in our monthly series of social evenings featuring a talk or event related to our club's history, heritage, culture and community. [This initiative has been introduced by members of the Everton FC Heritage Society, which runs from September to May on the first Thursday of every month in the function room of The Denbigh Castle, in Hackins Hey (off Dale Street), Liverpool].

'An Evening with Simon Hart' - hosted by Gavin Buckland (author and EFCHS member)

Doors - 6.30pm for sit down at 7.00pm

Author Simon Hart has just celebrated the publication of his latest work - 'The Man Who Bled Blue: The Triumphs and Tragedy of Mike Lyons', and we are very pleased to invite him to our Heritage Society event to discuss Mike's career at his boyhood club and beyond, as well as his previous book 'Here We Go' featuring the triumphs of the 1980s. 

We have a full programme for the evening, with guests who played with Mike Lyons, or featured in the sides of the 1980s.

Guests: 

Paul Power (Signed in 1986, Paul was an integral part of the championship winning side of 1986/87, before joining the coaching staff)

Steve Seargeant  (Began his Everton career in the Youth Team, making his full debut in 1972, appearing 86 times until 1978)

Graham Smith  (Everton FC coach during the 1980s, also coaching with Mike under Colin Harvey)

Francesca Lyons - we are delighted to have with us Mike Lyon's daughter, who we hope will share some of her stories about her father, and tell us how he is faring in his home in Australia

Simon will be signing copies of his book 'The Man Who Bled Blue: The Triumphs and Tragedy of Mike Lyons' during the evening.

All Evertonians are welcome to attend the event and we sincerely hope you will support the research of the Everton FC Heritage Society.

Programme will conclude by approx 10.30pm, but bar is available until midnight.
