The Combined Paediatric First Aid (PFA) and First Aid at Work (FAW) course covers a range of CPR and first aid skills for both adults and children. It equips employers and their staff with the knowledge and abilities to minimise risks and hazards in the workplace.
This three-day Combined Paediatric First Aid and First Aid at Work course is for anyone over the age of 16 that has contact or works with both adults and children. This course combines two qualifications into one course.
All of our First Aid qualifications are delivered through RLSS UK and is CIMSPA endorsed, which means it has been quality-assured by CIMSPA. RLSS UK is an active member of the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF) whose remit is to collaborate on best practice and maintain quality to ensure the integrity and currency of regulated qualifications.
Candidates must be at least 16 years of age.
About the Combined Paediatric First Aid (PFA) and First Aid at Work (FAW) Course
The RLSS UK Qualifications Level 3 Combined Paediatric First Aid and First Aid at Work course covers a wide range of CPR and first aid skills, equipping the first aider with the skills to apply first aid for a range of specific injuries and illnesses and CPR for adults and children.
This 3-day course combines the following individual courses:
- Paediatric First Aid (PFA)
- First Aid at Work (FAW)
The two qualifications are Ofqual, CCEA and Qualification Wales accredited and valid for 3 years from the assessment date. The Combined PFA and FAW course is suitable for anyone who has contact or works with adults, children, and/or infants (babies).
The Combined PFA and FAW course comprises of practical work and theoretical classroom work, as well as a practical and multiple-choice theory assessment of CPR and first aid skills.
Combined Paediatric First Aid (PFA) and First Aid at Work (FAW) Course Content
A range of subjects are covered within the Combined Paediatric First Aid and First Aid at Work course, including:
- Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first aider
- How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
- How to manage a casualty who is in shock
- How to assess an incident
- How to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
- How to manage a casualty with a minor injury
- How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
- How to manage a casualty with external bleeding
- Understanding the role of the paediatric first aider
- How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
- How to assess an emergency situation and act safely and effectively
- How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who has a foreign body airway obstruction
- How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
- How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is wounded and bleeding
- How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a suspected fracture and a dislocation
- How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness
- How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with burns or scalds
- How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a head, a neck, and a back injury
- How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and cold
- How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has been poisoned
- How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears, and nose
- How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has sustained an electric shock
- How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has been bitten or stung
Combined PFA and FAW Qualification UCAS and CPD Points
RLSS UK’s Combined Paediatric First Aid and First Aid at Work qualification offers candidates the following continual professional development (CPD) and university application points:
CPD Points:
Paediatric First Aid (PFA) = 7.5 CIMSPA Points
First Aid at Work (FAW) =10 CIMSPA Points
UCAS Points:
Paediatric First Aid (PFA) = 8 UCAS Points
First Aid at Work (FAW) = 8 UCAS Points
Cancellations & Refunds
Full refunds (less administration fee) will be issued for all cancellation requests received more than 4 weeks in advance of the start of the course or event.
Cancellation / refund requests received between 14 and 28 days prior to the start of the course / event will have the option of either a 50% refund or a voucher for 100% of the fee paid that can be used on an alternative Everybody Academy course / event. This must be used within 12 months of the date of issue.
Cancellation / refund requests received with less than 14 days notice prior to the start of the course/event will not be eligible for a refund/voucher
We reserve the right to consider claims of exceptional circumstances for cancellation/refund requests made in advance of the start of the course/event. Please note that you may need to provide evidence to support claims of exceptional circumstances.
All refunds will be made to the original payment method.
We will not refund or provide vouchers for candidates who fail to meet the stated minimum requirements or prerequisites for any course/event
