The SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualification is a practical qualification for individuals wanting to progress from their SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) qualification.

This qualification has been endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) as meeting the requirements of the professional standard for the role of a Swimming Teacher and provides 10 CIMSPA CPD points.

This course will run on the following dates:

  • 12th July & 13th July 
  • 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th & 25th July

Candidates must attend all sessions.

Course Details

This qualification will enable you to effectively plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate swimming lessons independently. It also gives you the skills and confidence to provide quality, inclusive and fun swimming lessons.

You will learn about:

  • The role and responsibilities of a Swimming Teacher
  • The role in promoting aquatics
  • How to plan overviews and swimming lesson plans for a range of ability groups
  • How teach safe, inclusive and effective swimming lessons to a range of ability groups
  • The influence of scientific principles on a participant in the water
  • How to meet the needs of participants
  • How to assess participants at the correct level
  • How to demonstrate lesson management skills
  • How to supervise and instruct a Swimming Assistant
  • How to develop participants Core Aquatic Skills (CAS)
  • How to develop participants swimming strokes
  • How to demonstrate effective communication skills
  • How to evaluate your own performance
  • How to plan for professional development

By the end of this course, you will be able to effectively plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate swimming lessons independently.

Qualification Time

Minimum 62 hours (52 guided learning hours)

Entry Requirements

Candidates must be at least 16 years of age on the first day of the course and hold a SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) certificate or Swim England/ASA equivalent.

If candidates have already achieved the SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming to Babies and Toddlers 2022 version 3, 4 or 2023 version 5 qualification, they may present the certificate as evidence towards the assessment criteria for this qualification as there are defined aspects of the achievement that do not necessarily require repeating.

This qualification is not graded. You will either pass or fail.

Candidate Requirements

All candidates will need access to a computer or laptop to access google classroom to complete assessment tasks for the course.

Candidates will need to provide the following for each day of the course:

  • Swimming costume
  • Shorts and t-shirt for use in the swimming pool
  • Towel
  • Pens, notepad and/or laptop
  • Lunch

Identification

All candidates must provide suitable identification to the Trainer who must check and record details of identification prior to candidates being admitted to courses and assessments. Identification can be verified using the following:

  • A passport
  • A driving licence
  • Other photographic ID card

Where the candidate does not have access to any of the above forms of identification an Approved Training Centre/Provider (ATC/P) may accept another form of identification containing a signature such as a debit or credit card or proof of identification provided/confirmed by their current employer or line manager.

Reasonable Adjustments / Special Considerations

Should any reasonable adjustments need to be considered with regards to the theory/practical assessment please contact us at academy@everybody.org.uk as soon as possible to allow us time to look into any available options and consult with the qualification awarding body if required.

It is important that you let us know of any medical conditions / additional learning requirements or disabilities during the booking process or, as a minimum, at least 30 days prior to the start of the course.

Cancellations & Refunds

Full refunds (less administration fee) will be issued for all cancellation requests received more than 4 weeks in advance of the start of the course or event.

Cancellation / refund requests received between 14 and 28 days prior to the start of the course / event will have the option of either a 50% refund or a voucher for 100% of the fee paid that can be used on an alternative Everybody Academy course / event. This must be used within 12 months of the date of issue.

Cancellation / refund requests received with less than 14 days notice prior to the start of the course/event will not be eligible for a refund/voucher

We reserve the right to consider claims of exceptional circumstances for cancellation/refund requests made in advance of the start of the course/event. Please note that you may need to provide evidence to support claims of exceptional circumstances.

All refunds will be made to the original payment method.

We will not refund or provide vouchers for candidates who fail to meet the stated minimum requirements or prerequisites for any course/event
