Join us for an evening that takes a closer look at why we sometimes think, feel, and behave in ways we don’t fully understand. Professor Steve Peters will guide you through the neuroscience of the mind in a simplified way that can help you learn how to manage dysfunction and get the best out of yourself! This is an opportunity to gain practical insight into your mind directly from Prof. Peters and take steps toward lasting emotional wellbeing.

Professor Steve Peters is a Consultant Psychiatrist who specialises in the functioning of the human mind. He has worked in the clinical field of psychiatry for over 30 years. Steve has authored 4 books, including the bestselling self-help book of all time in the UK, The Chimp Paradox, which has sold 2 million copies. He has been consultant to over 20 Olympic and national sporting teams and individuals including |Liverpool F.C., British Cycling, GB Taekwondo, England Rugby, England Football, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Victoria Pendleton and Sir Chris Hoy.

Tickets

Tickets for the event are £30 per person (plus booking fee) with all proceeds going to CRY. You can choose to add an additional donation to CRY at checkout if desired. Please do not select the Non-attendee ticket if you want to intend the ticket as it will not give access to the event.

Please note that this event may be photographed/filmed by Everybody Health & leisure and/or Chimp Management and that by booking a ticket you consent for your image to be used. Filming of the event will not be allowed by attendees.

About CRY

Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds specialist referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals.

Travel & Venue Information

By Train: Wilmslow Leisure Centre is opposite Wilmslow train station, across Station Road and is less than 500 feet from the station exit to the leisure centre main entrance, less than a 2-minute walk. Wilmslow is well connected to many towns and cities including Manchester, London and Crewe with Avanti West Coast and Northern Rail services stopping at Wilmslow.

By Car: Wilmslow Leisure Centre car park is a ‘pay and display’ or ‘pay by app’ car park and offers parking for up to 3-hours. This car park has 100 parking spaces, including 5 accessible parking bays. There is no electric vehicle charging points in this car park. The car park entrance is found on Walpole Way. The location reference when using What3Words is ‘joined.speaks.comic’. Additional car parking is available at Broadway Meadow car park which is situated on your right before entering the leisure centre car park. Broadway Meadow car park has 272 spaces, including accessible parking bays. Broadway Meadow is a ‘pay and display’ or ‘pay by app’ car park. Visitors are encouraged to read signs in the car park for parking fees, restrictions etc.

By Bus: The nearest bus stop to Wilmslow Leisure Centre is at Wilmslow Train Station, which is approximately 2-minute walk to the leisure centre main entrance. Wilmslow has good bus network connectivity with routes including Macclesfield, Manchester Airport, Altrincham, and Handforth. The two main bus routes serving Wilmslow are the 88, and 130 routes.

By Bicycle: There are several bike racks directly outside Wilmslow Leisure Centre. Cyclists will need to provide their own method of securing their bike to the bike rack.

Venue Facilities & Information

Wilmslow Leisure Centre has toilet facilities, including accessible toilets, next to the Evans Theatre where this event is being held.

Access to the Evans Theatre is on the ground floor, near to the main reception, with good accessibility for those with low mobility or wheelchair user.

There is a cafe on the ground floor, near to the main reception. The cafe serves hot and cold beverages including tea, coffee, and alcoholic beverages. A menu of hot and cold food, including snacks are also served.

General assistance can be found at the reception desk as you enter the main entrance. This area is operated by a reception team, with Duty Managers also available to handle enquiries.
