Join me, artist Dan McDermott, for a full day of drawing at Jackson's Art Supplies, designed to strengthen your observational skills and broaden your creative approach. My teaching style always begins with meeting you exactly where you are. Whether you're new to drawing or returning with experience, you’ll receive supportive, personalised guidance that both anchors your foundations and helps you grow your own unique style.

During the day, we’ll explore:
- Expressive and drawing techniques to loosen up and deepen focus
- Seeing and understanding shape, proportion, line, and tonality
- Breaking down complex subjects into simple forms
- Approaches for confident line and mark-making
- Using charcoal and other dry media to experiment and find your own voice
We’ll work from arranged still-life setups and your own personal references (optional), allowing space for both structured learning and individual creativity.
Expect a thoughtful, encouraging atmosphere where you can slow down, notice more, and enjoy the satisfaction of a full day dedicated to drawing.

The workshop is bring-your-own-materials. There’s no need to purchase everything new—feel free to bring what you already have, as long as it’s comparable. Please bring a packed lunch, snacks and water with you. We will supply tea and coffee throughout the day. The Art shop will be open from 9 am, so you will have time to purchase materials you may need before the workshop
