Drop-off Forest School sessions for older kids aged 8 years and up.
The focus of this block of sessions is to:
* Provide new challenges and experiences
*Offer the opportunity to enjoy woodland crafts
*Develop new skills, cook on the campfire and use hand tools
* Allow young people to play together freely
*Develop new friendships with like minded people
* Explore the woodland environment.
*Build confidence in their own ability
Activities are suitable for older kids aged 8 years and up who enjoy playing outdoors.
Activities will include: Using hand tools for building and creating, cooking on the fire, explore and experiment with new creative processes, find uses for natural materials, extend creative thinking using natures treasures.
These sessions will be run by two new Forest School trainees who are full of energy and enthusiasm for the outdoors. The sessions will be over seen by their trainer Jo Dainty. As part of the Forest School training process, trainees will need to: plan, prepare and deliver flexible, participant focused sessions; ensure that health and safety of the participants is maintained; observe and assess each participant and each session to see where to take the next sessions in order to meet the needs of the group.
To get the most from this block of sessions we ask that your child attends as many sessions as possible (preferably all 6). The regularity of Forest School with the same group of people, in the same space is what enables the confidence and skills to develop.
Please book online but if you find that you are not able to attend any of the sessions, please let us know so that we can offer this unique experience to another young person.

What to bring and where to come:
This session is run from Old Goginan Mine, a privately owned woodland accessed through Old Goginan, off the A44 out of Aberystwyth. Directions will be given on booking.
There is a parachute providing shelter when its wet outside. But please ensure warm and waterproof clothing if appropriate for the weather and for outdoor play, including:
* lots of layers (you can always take them off if it’s warm
* Full waterproofs (or just have them packed in the bag just in case!)
* Long sleeves and trousers
* Wellies - it can get muddy and there is a small waterfall on site
We recommend not wearing your best clothes for this, we will get dirty, we will be by the fire where you may get small burn holes and you will smell of smoke, tools can tear holes, wax splatters, berries stain and all these things are the sign of a great afternoon in the woods. I would be a shame not to join in because you don't want to get your white trainers dirty so prepare your wardrobe for an Autumn of fun!
If you don't have access to waterproofs warm layers let me know ASAP, I may be able to find some spares.
We have a full risk assessment of the site and activities to ensure your child's safety during the day.
We often cook snacks on the fire. Please let us know of any dietary requirements/ preferences via the booking form.

We need a minimum of 6 children to run a session.
If we need to cancel a session, due to illness or poor weather, we will let you know as soon as we can.
If you need to cancel your booking, please do so as soon as possible to give other kids a chance to join in.
