Evie Demetriou is a Cyprus-based choreographer and performer whose work reflects on topics of social justice, and the politics of care. Through a feminist lens, Evie’s performances explore themes of identity, womanhood, patriarchy, sexuality, often connecting personal experience with larger socio-political narratives. Known for her playful yet bold approach, she navigates complex subjects combining playfulness with a deep sensitivity that invites audiences to question normative power structures.

With over 17 countries in her touring history, Evie’s choreographic works have graced a diverse array of festivals, from intimate avant-garde venues to prestigious international platforms. Her performances resonate with audiences in Europe, Asia, and Africa, inviting them to engage deeply with narratives that challenge conventional perspectives on identity and social justice. In addition to live performances, Evie co-directed dance films including the award-winning film "Posidonies," which addresses the environmental issues surrounding Posidonia Oceanica, an endangered seagrass species .

Evie holds an MA in Choreography from Codarts University of the Arts and Fontys University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, and she has studied dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London and the Limón Institute in New York. Throughout her career, Evie has actively engaged in European dance initiatives such as the E-motional European Programme (2011-2014), the Act Your Age EU Program (2013-2014) and recently SHIFT (2024-2026) collaborating with organizations such as Centro per la Scena Contemporanea (IT), the Dutch Dance Festival (NL), Cie Omar Rajeh & Magamat (FR) . She is a recipient of Danceweb scholarship at the Impulstanz Festival in Vienna, and represented Cyprus at the Biennale of Young Artists in Europe and the Mediterranean.

As a performer, Evie has collaborated with choreographers such as Felix Ruckert, Athina Vahla, Rosemary Lee, Alain Buffard, Alexandra Waierstall amongst others. She is a co-founder of En Drasi, the production structure supporting her choreographic works, and a founding member of Dance House Lemesos, contributing to the growth of the Cypriot dance community and beyond.
