T41. In-Camera Cyanotype with Ryder Booth
T41. In-Camera Cyanotype with Ryder Booth
In this workshop, participants will explore cyanography as a camera based, long exposure process that unfolds directly in the field. The session approaches the technique as a time intensive and experimental practice, focusing on outdoor shooting and the relationship between light, time, and environment.Participants will learn the full workflow, from preparing cameras and understanding exposure requirements to processing the material and considering future printing possibilities. The method is intentionally flexible, allowing adaptation to changing weather conditions, especially cloudy days that demand extended exposure times.During the shooting period, the instructor will introduce the chemistry, history, and variations of cyanography, including different processes, camera formats, and the option of printing cyanotypes in the darkroom using colour chemistry. Each participant will leave with a developed negative ready for scanning or printing, along with a solid technical and conceptual understanding of the process.
