T65. Cyanotype on Glass with Tania Bakum

In this workshop, participants will explore cyanotype on glass as an alternative photographic process that transforms transparent surfaces into luminous blue images. Using gelatin as an adhesion layer, they will learn how to prepare glass for light-sensitive coating and understand how fragility, transparency, and material presence influence the final result.Participants will learn how to clean and degrease glass, apply cyanotype chemistry evenly, work with negatives and photograms, and control UV exposure, washing, and fixing. The session aims to provide a clear technical foundation so the process can be continued independently after the workshop.Alongside the technical work, the workshop encourages experimentation and embraces unpredictability, inviting participants to explore how material behavior, light, and chance can shape the image and transform technical challenges into creative possibilities.
