Come and listen to some of the best poets from Yorkshire and beyond at Finding the Words, our relaxed and welcoming online poetry evening.

Jane Bonnyman is an Edinburgh-based poet. Her most recent pamphlet Dinner with Superman was published by Red Squirrel Press in February 2020. She has recently completed an MA in Creative Writing at Newcastle and has been published in several magazines including The Dark Horse, Magma and Mslexia.

Wayne Medford writes both poetry and non-fiction. He is a member of Cullerpoets stanza group, and North Tyneside Writers’ Circle. He is also a member of the North-East Group of the Society of Authors. He regularly performs at local spoken word events.

Elvire Roberts is a poet from the LGBTQ+ community in Nottingham and works as a signed language interpreter between BSL and English. With her first degree being in Chinese Studies, her writing celebrates the doors that languages and cultures open in our minds and bodies. She writes from a physiological reimagining of emotion, often through the animal, vegetable and mineral.

Her debut pamphlet NorthbyNorthnorth threads its way through queerness in all its meanings: eccentric, Queer, questionable, unwell and downright weird.

A poetry collaboration, Knee to Knee, co-written with Rachel Goodman, questions the ways in which women have been written over a lifetime. It is a witty, raw, sometimes heart-wrenching invitation to inhabit this world in a new language.
