Come and listen to some of the best poets from Yorkshire and beyond at Finding the Words, our relaxed and welcoming online poetry evening.

Jen Feroze lives by the sea in Essex. Her work has appeared in publications including Acumen, Under the Radar, Magma, Butcher's Dog and Berlin Lit. She writes about motherhood, shifts in identity, and love in many forms - frequently finding wonder in the seemingly everyday. Jen won the 2024 Poetry Business International Book and Pamphlet Competition and her winning book A Dress With Deep Pockets was published in March. Her debut pamphlet Tiny Bright Thorns was published by Nine Pens in 2024. Jen likes cold water swimming, chunky knitwear and cheese you can eat with a spoon.

Corinna Board teaches English as an additional language in an Oxford secondary school. She grew up on a farm, and her writing is often inspired by the rural environment. She particularly enjoys exploring our connection to the more-than-human. Her work has appeared in various places, most recently in Magma 90: Grassroots and Poetry News. Arboreal, her debut pamphlet, was published in January 2024 by Black Cat Poetry Press. Corinna was recently shortlisted in the 2024 Magma pamphlet competition judged by Niall Campbell.

Laura Theis's work has been widely anthologised and appears in Poetry, Oxford Poetry, Poetry Birmingham, Northern Gravy, Magma, Rattle, Aesthetica, iamb, Berlin Lit, Candlestick Press etc. Her Elgin-Award-nominated debut how to extricate yourself (2020), an Oxford Poetry Library Book-of-the-Month, won the Brian Dempsey Memorial Prize. A Spotter’s Guide To Invisible Things (2023) received the Live Canon Collection Prize and the Society of Authors’ Arthur-Welton-Award. Other accolades include the Alpine Fellowship Writing Prize, Poets & Players Prize, Oxford Brookes Poetry Prize, AM Heath Prize, and Mogford Prize. She was nominated for the Forward Prize and a finalist for the National Poetry Competition, Women Poets Prize, Bridport Prize, and BBC Short Story Prize. Her new collection Introduction to Cloud Care was released in February by Broken Sleep Books and "already has the hallmark of a classic " (Jenny Lewis).
