This event is part of Stories Unleashed, a half-term festival at York Explore celebrating creativity, characters and imagination. Through performances, crafts, author events and storytelling, this fun programme brings stories to life and offers fun, interactive experiences for children and families, whether they're avid readers or simply looking to try something new.

Stories Unleashed is supported by Libraries Connected as part of the National Year of Reading.

In the town of ‘Ghoooul’  Dr Frankenheinz is rustling up something special for the annual Halloween cooking competition… the HALLOWBEAN!!

The Dr hopes his tomatoey terror will dazzle SCARY Berry, the most frightful food critic of them all. The only problem is his eeny beany isn’t very scary. In fact, she’s downright lovable! Uh oh. Will Halloween have to be cancelled? Or can the HallowBean find her scare in time? Find out in this pun and puppet packed, halloween treat!

HallowBean is a hilarious musical comedy from BBC POPCORN NEW WRITING AWARD nominated FLADAM (Flo Poskitt and Adam Sowter) best known for their hit shows GREEN FINGERS and ASTRO NORMA. Following a successful UK tour and two joyous runs at GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL, the duo can’t wait to bring their musical mischief back to York!

Please note: Babes in arms do not require a ticket, but all other children and accompanying adults do require a ticket to be booked to ensure we have sufficient capacity for all attendees.

Please note our supervision requirements: 8s and Under must have an adult with them at all times during the session. Ages 9–10 need an adult to stay in the library building during the session and to be on hand to support the child if needed. Ages 11+ can take part in sessions independently but will be unsupervised by library staff. Thank you for helping us keep our activities safe.
