Composer Philip Corner (b. 1933) is one of the greats of 20th- and 21st-century experimental music. Active since the late 1950s, he’s composed thousands of works exploring the intersection of the classical tradition, post–John Cage experimentalism, and a desire to forge true creative collaboration between composer and performer. On January 21, January 28, and February 4, 11, and 18, Portland’s Extradition Ensemble will present five consecutive Saturday concerts of Corner’s music. Tickets are available for individual events or via a Festival Passes that includes admission to all events plus a free download of EXTRADITION PLAYS CORNER: THE ALBUM. Documenting all performances from the festival plus additional Philip Corner compositions recorded by Extradition Ensemble members, friends, and peer ensembles around the world, the album will be released on Bandcamp in late March or early April. Festival pass holders will receive a download link.
