Making Space | Star Khani | Artist Q&A

Join Brighton-based artist Star Khani for an intimate artist Q&A exploring The Weight of Arrival, a new mixed-media photography project developed during her Making Space residency at Fabrica.

A recent arrival to Brighton & Hove from Iran, Star is creating a body of work inspired by the city's historic churches, towers, façades and other architectural landmarks. Through photography and illustrative interventions, she explores how familiar places can take on entirely new meanings when experienced through the eyes of a newcomer, bringing together architecture, memory and lived experience.

In this special Q&A session, Star will be available to discuss the ideas behind the project and how the work has developed throughout her residency. The conversation will also touch on her wider practice, which spans photography, graphic design and mixed-media image making, exploring themes of displacement, belonging and personal narrative.

The event will be entirely audience-led, offering the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the residency process, and hear how The Weight of Arrival continues to evolve.

This is a rare chance to engage directly with a work in progress and gain insight into an artist's process at a pivotal stage of development.
