At XP Trust students learn predominantly through cross subject learning expeditions that are built around students creating an authentic and purposeful product that connects to the wider world.

This work is framed and expressed through our design principles which are:

‘As stewards of XP, we build community through activism, leadership and equity, sharing our stories as we go.’

Andy will focus on sharing the three dimensional curriculum at XP that focuses specifically on creating beautiful work, building character and achieving academic success and how this links to activism and service.

Students follow an expeditionary curriculum, learning through academically rigorous, cross-curricular learning expeditions to produce authentic and meaningful products that exist beyond the school walls. XP’s students have books for sale in the town bookstores, documentary films played at the town theatre, art displayed in the town galleries and civic buildings and have held many public events including poetry jams and scientific lectures.

Andy has co-authored the book ‘How We XP’ and has written various articles most recently for the British Educational Research Association included in their publication: ‘Curriculum in a Changing World’ (2024)
