Where Two Seas Meet: Season of Creation | Islamic History Month

Where Two Seas Meet brings together two faith observances that overlap this year.

The Season of Creation, an ecumenical Christian celebration held from September 1 to October 4, calls the faithful to reflect on the care for creation. October is also Islamic History Month in Canada, a time to recognize the contributions of Muslim communities to the country's history and culture. Where Two Seas Meet marks the close of one and the height of the other in a single joint gathering.

The sacredness of water is the theme of this year’s Season of Creation. Our gathering will facilitate a conversation on this topic between an Islamic scholar/Imam and Sabrina Chiefari, a Catholic environmental educator. 

Guests can also browse exhibitor tables and sample dishes that showcase Islamic, Christian and interfaith food traditions.

Where Two Seas Meet is organized by the Mary Ward Centre, Faith & the Common Good, ISNA Canada and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto.

Our Speakers

Sabrina M. Chiefari is a Catholic Environmental Educator from Tkaronto/Toronto. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, and a Certificate in Community Arts Practice, from York University in 2007. From 2008-2022, she delivered diverse formats of bilingual outdoor educational programming to approximately 140,000 students from K-12, across the GTA.

She’s a long-time proponent of Deep Ecology and Integral Ecology, which are now her main areas of focus as Integral Ecology Specialist for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto.
