Families Outside CPD-accredited training for professionals

The impact of imprisonment on children and families

Families Outside’s Training for Professionals is suitable for any professional whose role means they come into contact with families, and who feel that they would benefit from being able to better support families affected by imprisonment in their own role.

The training is priced at £55 per person, per module.

The training is delivered via Microsoft Teams.

Please note, the training modules incorporate a mix of learning styles, and provides opportunities to interact with other participants from different professional backgrounds and sectors. Interaction is required, in smaller breakout room discussions and whole group discussions.

By the end of the training session, participants should be able to:

  • Better understand the impact of imprisonment on children and families, including the most common issues facing families
  • Give examples of how a family might be affected at each stage of the criminal justice process
  • Understand the emotional and practical needs of children affected by imprisonment
  • Understand the most relevant articles within the UNCRC which relate to children with a parent in prison
  • Apply their knowledge when supporting families affected by imprisonment and feel confident when supporting families in their own role

It is not recommended to join the session via a mobile phone or for more than one person to join on the same device/screen. Participants will receive an email with the joining instructions a week in advance of the session.

We can also deliver bespoke training sessions to your organisation. To discuss this, or any aspect of our training, please contact training@familiesoutside.org.uk
