The impact of imprisonment on children and families
Condensed Training Module
By the end of the training session, participants should be able to:
- Better understand the impact of imprisonment on children and families, including the most prevalent issues facing families
- Understand and give examples of how a family might be affected at each stage of the criminal justice process
- Understand the emotional and practical needs of children affected by imprisonment
- Understand the most relevant articles within the UNCRC which relate to children with a parent in prison
- Understand and implement Child Impact Assessments as a tool for supporting children with a family member involved in the justice system
- Apply their learning when supporting families affected by imprisonment and feel confident when supporting families in their own role
We understand that for many professionals, time and budget constraints mean they are unable to attend our three individual training modules. Therefore, we have developed a condensed module which includes the key elements of each of our individual training modules, in one half day (4 hour) session.
The training is interactive, comprising small group activities and whole group discussions alongside information delivered by our trainer and PowerPoint presentation. The group activities are opportunities for professionals from different sectors to come together and learn from each other, and share their perspectives and expertise.
Families Outside’s Training for Professionals is suitable for any professional whose role means they come into contact with families, and who feel that they would benefit from being able to better support families affected by imprisonment in their own role.
The condensed training module is priced at £95 per person.
The training is delivered online via Microsoft Teams.
Please note, the training modules incorporate a mix of learning styles, and provides opportunities to interact with other participants from different professional backgrounds and sectors. Interaction is required, in smaller breakout room discussions and whole group discussions.
It is not recommended to join the session via a mobile phone or for more than one person to join on the same device/screen. Participants will receive an email with the joining instructions a week in advance of the session.
We can also deliver bespoke training sessions to your organisation. To discuss this, or any aspect of our training, please contact training@familiesoutside.org.uk
