A Skewbald Theatre and Stanley Halls Production
Come and snuggle up with your loved ones in a snowy cave for a tale full of bravery & adventure. The Girl and the Winter Whirlwinds is an interactive story that brings a popular Bulgarian folktale to life with puppetry, original music and exciting storytelling.
When the Wicked Winter Witch decides to stop spring from coming and make winter the only season on earth she summons her Snow Sprites to cover everything with heavy snow! All the houses are buried up to their rooftops and people have to dig tunnels to get to their friends. It is up to a brave little girl to battle the blizzards and the Winter whirlwinds and seek out the help of Father Frost who is asleep in his Ice Palace. But she can’t do it alone. She will need the help of some furry friends to keep her warm on her cold journey.

Venue
Stanley Halls is a Grade II listed Edwardian arts venue in South Norwood, very close to Norwood Junction station. A fascinating complex of unique Edwardian buildings built in 1904-11, the Halls comprise an art gallery, theatre hall and assembly rooms. The building was donated and designed for the people of South Norwood by William Ford Robinson Stanley (1829-1909), a prominent local inventor, industrialist and philanthropist. The venue has recently come under community management by The Stanley People’s Initiative, a charity established by the local community to re-open, manage, improve and restore Stanley Halls.
