Title: Advanced Trauma Training

Summary/Overview: This workshop provides training in principles of trauma and its effects on developing children. It pairs educational didactic work with case examples and time for group discussion. Participants have a better understanding of the guidelines for staff who work with traumatized children. Prerequisite of Introduction to Clinical Practice.

Objectives: 1) Describe the function of fight/fight/freeze response. 2) Identify the difference between shame and guilt using case examples 3) Give examples of ways children may use behavior as a means to regulate themselves

Presenter(s): Trainer Janet Murphy, LCSW is Clinical Supervisor at FCA and on our Leadership Team. Janet Murphy, LCSW has been presenting adaptations of this course for many years and was the original creator of its curriculum.  Facilitator Mindy Solomon, LCSW is a licensed clinician with a specialty of working with foster youth and families, as well as Train the Trainer.

Credits Available: 2.5 Credit hours are available for this session.
