About our Saturday Seminar Series with Karen Woodall
The Saturday Seminar series runs throughout the year with a focus on different aspects of therapeutic parenting for parents who have been rejected by their children due to trauma bonding in divorce and separation. The series is for mothers and fathers and provides guidance, psycho-education, reflexive space and support for parents at each stage in this family attachment journey. Led by Karen Woodall, a psychotherapist with thirty years experience in working with families affected by the crisis of attachment trauma which involves psychological and emotional as well as physical and sexual abuse, this seminar series is for you if you are:
- new to the experience of a child’s rejection
- stuck in a place where a child is completely rejecting of you
- frightened or bewildered by a child’s behaviour towards you
- on the path out of the child’s rejection with some reconnection
- fully reconnected but recognising that your child still needs help
Sending joy at Christmas - A seasonal seminar of hope and recovery from the Lighthouse Keepers
During times of celebration the loss of a child who is alienated from their own sense of self and those who can provide healthy love and care for them, is never felt more keenly. During these periods of intense missing, sadness and grief can become overwhelming for parents in the rejected position as another year passes by without being able to see your children.
Providing hope for healing and recovery for parents in the rejected position becomes urgent during these times as the helpless that accompanies this experience is sharply increased. This seminar is for all parents in the rejected position to help you to experience yourself as the most valuable person in your child’s life at the time when you feel the loss the most.
Many parents find it incredibly difficult to understand how to connect with their children when they are in the most vehement part of the alignment and rejection journey. Believing that children who are rude, rejecting and resistant to any kind of relationship are acting from their real feelings makes things so much worse. This seminar begins by helping you to orientate to where your child might be on this journey and to help you to understand why your child behaves this way.
Supported by testimony from two once severely alienated children who are now healthy and well, this seminar moves you from understanding where your children are to learning how to write to them, signal to them and send them joy at Christmas. Using templates for action, in which you can begin to shape the words and sentences that will help the healthy part of the child to recognise that you are still there, this seminar draws upon the principles of Lighthouse Keeping which is the metaphor we use to describe the way that therapeutic parenting works for children who are self-alienated due to trauma bonding.
This seminar is for you if you want to learn hope in the face of despair and how to help yourself instead of feeling helpless. This seasonal seminar will focus on health and well being for parents in the rejected position as well as practical tools to send your signals of joy, hope and recovery to your alienated child.
