About this seminar

What do you write to a child who doesn't answer?

Do you say 'I love you?' Tell them you miss them? Ask questions? Send photographs? Mention memories? How often should you make contact, and when should you simply wait?

Writing to a disappeared child can become an agonising cycle of composing, rewriting, sending and then waiting for a response which may never come. In this practical two-hour seminar, we will learn how to think differently about communication.

The purpose of Lighthouse communication is not to persuade your child, obtain reassurance, or prove that you are a good parent. It is to leave signals of relational safety that say 'I am here, I remember you, I remain interested in you, I don't need anything from you today, the door remains open.'

In this seminar, we will work with real examples of messages, and explore frequency, think about birthdays and special occasions, photographs and memories, asking questions, responding to silence or hostility, and recognising the hidden emotional demand that can sometimes sit beneath apparently loving words.

Above all, we will practice being present without pursuing, loving without pleading, remembering without demanding, and signalling without chasing. Because whilst you cannot make your child answer, you can make sure that the light that will guide them home is always shining brightly. This is what children who come home tell us they need the most; signals to show that the parent they are forced to reject is still there waiting for them.

NB: This seminar is applicable regardless of whether or not you are currently seeing, or in communication with your child.
